Blog's Background, Objective, Guiding Principles and Wishes

Blog Background

On the 13th of January 2013, there born a forum discussion thread in Hardwarezone.com "Eat Drink Man Women" (EDMW) forum (http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/) by forum member "AUTUMN&WINTER" titled "Buddhist Verses & Silent Readings For Reflection (静思语)" which collects together many Buddhist materials from various sources as well as discussion on Buddhist topics.

Being a regular reader of the above-mentioned thread, I find many of the postings beneficial and worthy of preservation for the benefits of other people who may not have a chance to visit that forum. More importantly, just as all things in this world is impermanent, I can foresee that the above-mentioned thread will one day be lost in oblivion by:

  1. The creation of a "Buddhist Verses & Silent Readings For Reflection (静思语) 2" thread when the current thread has reached a large number of postings (current number of postings as on 10 August 2013 is more than 282 pages containing more than 4230 postings) which the forum moderator may feel justified to open a second discussion thread. When this happened, the original thread will be locked from new posting and hence will be "relegated" down the forum posting list and lost in sea of thousands and thousands of other threads in that forum, or
  2. The possibility of the closure of EDMW sub-forum or the entire Hardwarezone.com forum, for whatever the reasons, or
  3. Hardwarezone.com forum's possible change of policy not to host any postings of a religious nature like the above-mentioned thread which is centric upon Buddhist teaching, or
  4. Possible crashes of Hardwarezone.com forum server and hence lost of all forum postings, or
  5. Any other unforeseen reasons.

Blog Objective

To preserve and disseminate the Dharma for the benefits of all sentient beings - specifically, the preservation of the Gems of Buddhist wisdom hosted in Hardwarezone.com "Eat Drink Man Women" (EDMW) forum (http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/). And in the process of doing so, it shall be done without bringing harm to all parties, for causing harm to others is not the Buddha's teaching. All merits generated in the process shall be dedicated to the benefits of all sentient beings in general and in specific, to Hardwarezone.com, the posting authors as well as the original source/owner(s) of posting materials used in the postings.

Blog Wishes

I wish all the relevant parties will give their generous blessing for the existence of this blog in the spirit of benefiting all sentient beings through the preservation and dissemination of the Dharma. I foresee possible intellectual property issues popping up. However, the Dharma, in my personal opinion, belongs to all. Even the Buddha has never claimed that the Dharma (intellectual property) belongs to him even though he was the One (as well as previous, present and future other Enlightened Ones) who illuminated it for us to see. The Buddha's teaching (Dharma) are based on the law of nature of the absolute reality. It is not created by anyone or belongs to anyone. It is therefore in this context of considerations that I decided to create this blog. I thank you for your kind generosity. May all of you reap the merits generated from this blog. You are the good causes of this merit thus generated, now and in future.
